Get Involved

So you would love to chime in safeguarding? There are different areas where anybody can support these efforts and we could really use your help. If anything speaks to you, please get in touch.

Identify data at risk of disappearing

We can only safeguard what we know about. Do you know of any data[^1] at risk? Either because you are working with it, or know people who do? Do you see reports on (social) media that look like warning signs?

Spread the word

Tell people about the ongoing attacks on research data and our cultural heritage. See [blog post](blog post) for an overview. Talk about efforts like this one and the ones by [our partners](blog post).

Are you a journalist or do you have media contacts? We want the world to know what people can do to help save science and culture. Do you work or volunteer at a research, educational, or heritage institution outside the US? Do you have storage or hosting infrastructure?

Download/mirror data

Look at the datasets uploaded to SciOp, our infrastructure for sharing already saved data. See [quick start](sciop quick start doc) on how to use it. If you are unsure on what to focus on, let us know and we’ll help to guide you.
